Repraisal Attack Spreads As News Of Suicide Bomber Hits Northern Part Of Nigeria

The Vatican condemned the "systematic attacks against Christian places of worship" which it said proved the existence of an "absurd plan of hate" in Nigeria, Africa's most populous country, split roughly evenly between Christians and Muslims.

The violence stoked fears of wider sectarian conflict in Nigeria, an OPEC member and Africa's top oil producer. The Christian Association of Kano, northern Nigeria's main city, called the bombings "a clear invitation to religious war".

Three suicide bomb attacks on churches rocked a northern Nigerian state Sunday, killing at least 21 people and wounding about 100, officials said, prompting protests in a state that has previously been strained by religious tensions.
The first two blasts occurred within minutes of each other and targeted two churches in the city of Zaria, said Kaduna State police chief Mohammed Abubakar Jinjiri. A third blast hit a church in the city of Kaduna about half an hour later, Jinjiri said.

Fight Over Prostitute In Ibadan Claims Three Lives

Three people were feared dead while a police post, 11 vehicles and nine motorcycles were either razed or vandalised in Bodija area of Ibadan between Thursday night and early yesterday after a fight between two men over a prostitute snowballed into a major violence.

The bloody clash forced thousands of marketers and traders out of the Bodija market. Some butchers whose shops are close to the scene of violence left their meats on the table and ran for dear lives.

Oldest Sisters In the World Celebrate Birthday In Grand Style

Two British women in their 100s have been named the oldest sisters in the world, after one celebrated a record breaking birthdays. Marjorie Ruddle, who recently turned 105, and Dorothy Richards, 108, were awarded Guinness Book of World Records certificates at a special party to held to celebrate the landmark.The sisters, who grew up together in Northamptonshire, were keen tennis players and used to holiday together, but had not seen each other for two-and-a-half years because they became too frail to travel.But last week the elder of the pair, Dorrie managed to make the trip from Stamford, Lincs., to surprise Marjorie at the Park

A GREEK MP physically attacks a female MP from a rival party live on TV in this shocking clip. Authorities have ordered the arrest of far-right Ilias Kasidiaris after he repeatedly slapped left-winger Liana Kanelli around the face.

The incident happened at the Igbinedion Univeristy, Okada, Edo State, involving two room mates, Chioma Onyeagwe and Hope Amadi. They had a fight over a shirt, and one of them nearly lost her life.According to reports, Hope Amadi borrowed Chioma's cloth and refused to return it for many days. When Chioma asked for her cloth back on Tuesday June 5th, Hope allegedly became extremely aggressive and the two girls got into serious argument. Then a fight ensued. Witnesses say Hope Amadi picked up scissors from their room and stabbed Chioma seven times on the neck, arm and other places. Chioma was rushed to the Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital, where doctors reported that Chioma was stabbed on her artery, and that if she hadn't been rushed to the hospital when she was she would have died.

Killer Spiders Invade Village

Experts are trying to identify the species of spiders that have invaded an Indian village, reportedly killing two people and injuring many others.
Panicked villagers in Sadiya, Assam, said swarms of the creatures began jumping at people and biting victims during a Hindu festival.
Indian media said a dozen people had been bitten and treated in hospital and two had died.
"Initially we thought it was a prank, but later on we saw swarms of this peculiar kind of spider biting people," Ranjit, a community elder said.

I was on this ill-fated Dana Plane 23rd May. It was delayed from take off from mm2, I saw the Philippine mechanic with buckets draining out hydraulic fluid under the left side under carriage tyre mechanism, a part was taken out but not replaced, yet we were told to board. I told the flight supervisor my name, that I am an aerospace system engineer and I am concerned at the operational state of the plane. The guy told me to see the pilot and I did. He was a caribbean decent captain and newzealand asian looking co pilot, he confirmed work was done and asked how i knew, I said I saw it from the windows of the airport and the part was not replaced, that I also saw the mechanic philippine and indian guys under the plane, he told me "dont worry it its not ok we wont fly". Tragedy Again: 30 killed in Nasarawa

No fewer than 30 persons were feared dead in Assakyo, headquaters of Lafia East Development Area of Nasarawa State, following renewed violence between Alago and Berom communities.
The crisis was said to have erupted between the two warring communities following a disagreement over some payment to a traditional head in the area.
Sunday Vanguard gathered that the Eggon people objected to the payment to the Alago traditional head, alleging that the other community was taking undue advantage of them.

Suicide Car Bomber Kills 12 In Nigeria Church

YELWA, Nigeria (Reuters) - A suicide bomber drove a car full of explosives into a church in northern Nigeria on Sunday, killing 12 people in the latest deadly attack on Christian worshippers, witnesses said.

Security forces at a road block nearby said the bomber forced his car through the checkpoint and drove into the church in Yelwa, on the outskirts of the city of Bauchi.

A Reuters reporter at the scene counted 12 bodies being pulled from the building.

The Dana Air flight was heading from Lagos to Abuja, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority head Harold Denuren told AP news agency.
He was quoted elsewhere saying he did not believe any of the 153 people on board had survived.
The crash took place in a neighbourhood just outside the airport, AP quoted federal emergency management as saying.
It said emergency personnel were on their way to the scene.

 More than 300 applications were made for street closures across Wales - 100 more than for last year's Royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton and there are community events planned over the bank holiday weekend.
